What 2016 Has Taught Me

Taylor Verow

2016 was full of ups and downs. A lot went into play. In this year, I moved from a large country called Kuwait to a small city in Kansas called McPherson. This taught me a few things. One being, culture is everywhere and another being, never limit myself to a certain place for a specific amount of time.

Being in a small town, I now see the personalities of people who haven’t been out of their city or state or country. The world is full of different cultures and customs. Something I wish everyone could do is explore it. I’ve traveled a lot and I never want to stop. I don’t want to limit myself to one state or country. There is too much to learn about and create in the world and we have to refrain from limiting ourselves to certain places and things. My advice would be to travel. Loads. If at all possible.

I understand that not everyone can just stop and go to the Bahamas however, it’s an idea to save up and go during the summer or something. Another tip would be, if you can’t travel, study. Study different culture, religions, places. Take some time to learn about things outside of the circle you grew up in. It will really open your eyes. Lastly, don’t be scared. Don’t worry about not knowing where to go, what to do, or what to say. Take a leap of faith and explore.
