It’s finally May, and the only thing students are thinking of is plans for the summer days. A lot of people go on vacation, but if you’re like me, that’s just something your family has never done. Instead of cruising the Bahamas, here are a list of free things to do on summer days and nights.

  1. Relive your inner childhood and catch lightning bugs in a jar.
  2. Go outside and play a sport of choice with your friends at the park.
  3. Have a movie marathon! Use Netflix or movies you have at home, and pop a big bowl of popcorn if you have some. It’s perfect for a rainy day.
  4. Camp out with friends in your backyard. Have friends bring tents and sleeping bags and make a campfire.
  5. Go on a walk. The summer breeze will relax you, and it’s a great way to get a little exercise.
  6. Lay a blanket on the ground and look up at the stars when they’re shining brightest. If you’re lucky, you may even see a shooting star. You’ll take into consideration how spectacular our universe really is.
  7. Start journaling. Find an old notebook in your house and fill it up with quotes, inner thoughts, drawings, or whatever you want. The great thing about journaling is you’re free to express yourself however you want.
  8. Rearrange your room. Looking at the same setup can get old, so change can be good.
  9. Try a new recipe with food you have around the house.
  10. Finally, just take a nap. It’s as simple as that. Sometimes you just need to waste the day away dreaming.
