Recently there has been a lot of talk and gossip about a local group who is recruiting members in the McPherson KS area.  It has been reported by locals that men and one woman have been going around the McPherson and Lindsborg area saying that they are trying to get people baptized.  There has been some speculations that this group are sex traffickers. Another report was made saying a lot of males and females were going around the McPherson college asking girls if they want to talk to Jesus and then trying to get them to go to their cars.

The McPherson Police Department says “the church group “Mother Our God,” “God The Mother” or “World Mission Society Church of God, Brothers, and Sisters of Zion,” has no reports of sex trafficking” according to “The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.”

The “God The Mother” church has had many controversies and claims to sex trafficking in the past.  A lot of people on twitter shared their “stories” about how one woman, sometimes two, would come up to people very aggressively and talk about how God is a woman and then proceed to try to get the people to their car. These occurrences happened to students at the University of Louisville, University of Mississippi and the University of Georgia.  The church has only been known to go up to female college students. The police were notified about these occurrences and investigated the claims.  The Oxford Police Department said “World Mission Society Church of God, is a legitimate church looking to expand to our area” in a tweet.

The McPherson Police Department contacted the group when they were reported seen around the McPherson area.  In a Facebook post made by the police department, they advised the citizens to “remember to travel in groups, do not talk to people you are unfamiliar with, and if you are approached by someone you feel uncomfortable with, call 9-1-1 immediately.”
