The McPherson Art exhibit is an event that takes place and is hosted by the McPherson Museum. The art exhibit is a way for young artists to showcase their hard work and skills for the year. It is also a competition for students to go against each other and gives them an opportunity to be seen by parents and other family members.
During the exhibit families and students are allowed to walk around the McPherson museum and view art made by middle school through high school students. On April 24 students were awarded with ribbons placing first, second, third and honorable mention.
Many students enjoy being able to show their hard work they do throughout the year to their families. ¨I like it because it’s another way to show my family besides at home,¨ says freshman Kenzley McAllister.
¨[McPherson Art Exhibit] brings a bunch of artists from different towns together,¨ says McAllister.
The McPherson Art Exhibit is a way to show the community many things McPherson High School has to offer. ¨It shows off another side of our school, because a lot of the time we see the sports and we don’t see our art side,¨ says McAllister.
Students throughout the McPherson county districts work hard and bring many pieces to the art show.
Students are able to put art pieces they have made in the first semester and second semester of school. The art exhibit gives students motivation to make their work look the best it can. ¨I think it gives them a reason to make their art look good,¨ says McAllister.
McPherson High School students can be in many different types of art classes throughout their high school career. The art pieces varied because of the opportunities offered. A few examples are sculpture, drawing, jewelry, ceramics, etc. Students were given the chance to show themselves through their art.
¨It gives people a chance to see how creative students really are and what they are capable of doing,¨ says Bethany Shoenwetter.
The following students were awarded ribbons. Kaylee Guinn and Ali Stevens both received honorable mention.
