Summer is the season of sunshine, longer days, and endless possibilities, making it the perfect time to explore the outdoors. Some people like to sit on their phones all day and not enjoy the fresh weather. Summer is the perfect time to explore new hobbies. Whether you want to relax, get creative, or be adventurous, there’s a hobby out there for everyone. You just have to find the right one that fits you as a person.
During the summer you can do a lot of different things. You could go fishing, you could learn how to do something new like how to ride a skateboard and you could even help your parents around the house.
Graciela Beltran, a freshman at MHS, is going to help her parents and babysit her little sister. ¨I started babysitting 2 years ago when my family adopted my little sister. She is 6-years-old so we are going to go to the park, probably go on bike rides and do some arts and crafts. I just want to have some quality time with her,¨ said Beltran.
Hunter Brown, a sophomore at the Essdack building, is going to be fishing this summer with his little brother, Kaiden. ¨I started fishing when I was 5-years-old. I usually fish during the summer, but I go whenever I can. I got taught how to fish by my dad and my grandpa and the biggest fish I ever caught is a 22lb Striper. I really want to fish at any Texas pond. The best time to go fishing is early in the morning or in the afternoon and it’s a really good time to go fishing right before it rains,¨ said Brown.
During the summer Xander Heter, a junior at MHS, is going to be skateboarding and hanging out with friends.¨ I started skateboarding about 15-years-ago. I usually just do it when I’m bored. I learned some tricks like an ollie, ollie pop shove it, a 360 pop shove it, and ollie 360 pop shove it. I usually just skateboard by myself. I like to skate around town. I really want to go skateboarding at Woodward, which is the biggest skate park there is,¨ said Heter.
This summer there’s going to be a lot of people doing different things, and you just have to find the hobbie that you want to do. If you want to sit on your phone, you can do that but, get outside, get some fresh air, and maybe help your parents. Try fishing, go swimming, go to the lake, or even go on a walk around town. Get out of the house, set your device down for awhile, and get into reality.
