Kiss the Class of 2026 goodbye! McPherson High School’s 25-26 school year seniors officially had their last big event this past weekend, graduation.
This time of year is always a whirlwind of emotions for all. Emotions range from happy to sad as seniors live through the last ever moments of their childhood before they go on to the real world.
The graduation ceremony was held on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in McPherson High School’s historic roundhouse. This event brought together families, friends, teachers, online students, and community members to recognize these students’ achievements while they walked the stage to move on to their next chapter in life.
For online students, this felt super special to be able to walk the stage with their class. Online senior Hadlee Davis was one of those students.
“I am very appreciative that they allow online students to still participate in the ceremony. It was very enjoyable to walk with the class I grew up with.” Said Davis.
This was the 143rd Annual Commencement. At the ceremony, they specifically recognized each senior as they walked across the stage. They announced their name and what their plan is for after graduation, whether that was college, the workforce, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, a gap year, or undecided. Students also received their diplomas.
A lot of students plan on attending college and doing a sport that they love. “I am going to Hutchinson Community College to pursue nursing and dance for the Dragon Dolls.” Said Senior Gentry Aichele.
This class had a smart group of kids. The valedictorian was Manny Morales, and the Salutatorian was Caleb Muehler. The class president was Dylan Bruce, and he had a memorable speech that had everybody in the room laughing.
The ceremony also included lots of music and an orchestra. They sang the national anthem and the popular song “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac, sung by MHS Mixed Ensemble and Senior Choir Members. The MHS Band and Orchestra then performed “Recessional March”. To end the ceremony, everyone came together and sang the Fight Song.
“I would describe our class as energetic! There is never a dull moment,” Aichele stated.
This class will always be remembered as very determined but also always down to have fun. This senior class will be one to remember.
