This year’s winter homecoming candidates made their debut on stage during an all school assembly in the auditorium last Tuesday February 14th. The ten students, along with the homecoming prince and princess, walked onto the stage beside their parents. Their school activities, favorite quotes, and most embarrassing high school moment were read aloud to the audience. This years candidates five girls were, Gracy Feil, Elizabeth Schrag, Sydney Mossman, Emma Yowell, and Zaida Chapman. The five boys were Chris Kirchner, Andric McGill, Paxton Leaf, Patrick Munsey, and Eric Gaeddert. This years prince and princess were Rex Harrison and Emelia Plackmier

“I think it’s cool that I was nominated because it kind of tells me that many of my classmates liked me enough to click my name over several others,” senior Sydney Mossman said. “I think I always hoped I would be a candidate but I was never sure I would be but now I am glad that I am.”

To nominate the candidates, a form was emailed to all seniors to vote for their friends and favorite classmates.

“I never really thought I would chosen but I was very excited when I found out,” senior Gracy Feil said.

Mossman found out she had been chosen to be a candidate when Feil texted her saying that their dads were going to to look good up on stage with them.

“I was super confused because I hadn’t seen my email yet that said I was I was a candidate. It was funny! I was surprised and excited,” Mossman said

During the pep assembly on Friday the ten seniors competed in a dance off against other grades. The following evening, during halftime of the basketball game, the winners of homecoming king and queen were announced: Sydney Mosman, and Paxton Leaf won.

“It’s cool to feel like the underclassmen liked me enough to vote for me,” Mossman said. It was a really fun experience and it has been a lot more attention than I anticipated.”
