     10 years ago the prices of gas were tested by the previous journalist of the High Life. Showing prices from year 1985-2005. The price in 2005 was about $2.27 on average for the nation. Prices are rising and still continue to rise. Now in 2015 price of gas is around $2.00 more or less.

~ 20 years ago, 1997

     10 years ago school administration started a new policy to issue a breathalyzer test on any student an administrator suspects has consumed alcohol. This included dances, school plays, and sports functions. This policy is still in place.  

~25 years ago, 1990

     25 years ago, students at McPherson High School found different ways of entertaining themselves than we do now. They would “drag Main”, meaning they would get in their cars, and drive around Main Street waving at strangers. They did that for fun, because there was just nothing else to do in a small town like McPherson. Now in 2016, we have one major advancement; technology.

~50 years ago, 1966

     About 50 years ago they were having to spend around $3 per library book to either repair or replace them. Over all they had to spend about $600 just on the books in the library. Some of the books were so badly vandalized that pages would need to be blacked out until there was enough money to completely replace them. They were also having to spend around $200 just on textbooks because they were either falling apart or just badly handled.

~75 years ago,  1941
     75 years ago there was an election for the president of the student body in 1939. But what’s interesting about this election is that one of the ads for it featured the comparison of the election and Hitler invading Poland. It called for the student body to unify and to be relentless with their hard work to be a successful student body.
