Chris Adrian is the head coach for the boys soccer team at McPherson High School. On the boys soccer team there are 41 players and 3 managers. According to Adrian, “This is the largest roster I’ve coached since I’ve been here.”
The boys soccer ¨team always practices with the varsity and junior varsity together. The boys have a lot of fun at practice but work extremely hard.¨ He said that, ¨if the team was struggling we would tackle it head on. Mistakes are part of the game and a player’s ability to rebound from it and learn from it is really important in the game of soccer.¨
Adrian’s favorite memory at this time is the comeback win on Senior Night. ¨We were down 0-1 with less than a minute to go but the team never gave up and scored two goals in the final minute to win 2-1.¨
Junior, wing-back, Ryan Bond is a player for McPherson this year. Bond stated that, “When I first started playing I wasn’t very good and I kind of looked at Hayden Hoxie and I thought I want to be that kid.¨ Bond said that the best advice a coach gave him was to relax and not overthink.
He stated that one way he could help his teammates after a loss is to “talk to them and make sure that they understand it wasn’t their fault, it happens.”
The Bullpups current standings is 5th. With a W/L record of 0-1. At the current moment, they are not sure who they are going to play next, but we hope they kick it!
