December Success

As we draw near the end of December and the beginning of winter break, McPherson High winter sports are on a roll; From basketball to wrestling, there has been all around success.

Basketball is off to a hot start with a 1 loss record to the returning 4a State champs. They are 3-1 with wins against El Dorado, Derby, and Abilene. None of the wins were close. The team’s roster consists of 5 seniors this year: Drew Labertew, Mason Alexander, Thomas Diggs, Ben Pyle, and Jayse Alexander. “ I feel really good about our team’s success right now. Our only loss comes from Miege, and that game was so close, it could’ve gone either way.” said Mason Alexander, senior.

Swimming had taken first in their last meet with hopes of their success to keep on rolling. Swimming travels to El Dorado January 6.

Bowling has just begun, but some upperclassmen are feeling confident with the team. “I feel like this first week went pretty well if we keep practicing hard I feel like we could go pretty far.” said Clayton Ouellette, senior. Bowling travels to Wichita January 6.

Wrestling is hot right now and everyone is pleased. The team went to Colby for a dual tournament on the weekend of the 8th and placed forth. They had one close loss to the champs of the tourney. December 14, the wrestling team blew Buehler out of the water with a 51 – 18 victory for the Pups. The Mac Grapplers are 10 – 1 in duals and head to Abilene December 16 for the first varsity tournament of the season.
