MHS Concert Band

The mass band concert took place in the Roundhouse on Monday, February 6th at 7:30 pm. It included all students from 6th grade to 12th grade. There was a lasagna dinner as well as a basket auction. Every grade had their own basket and theme for that basket.

People arriving at the concert could come to the lasagna dinner from 5 to 7 pm. A meal was only $5 and was served in the AC. The silent auctions for items and baskets will also take place in the AC.

Themes for the baskets were Kansas City Sports, House Divided, Family Fun Night, Coffee/Tea Lovers, Fun/Crazy Socks, McPherson Fans, and Valentine’s Day. These go in order starting from sixth grade to seniors. All the money from the silent auction will go to the band.

The performance as a whole was a mixture of types of music. The playing of each song alternates between every band. Every band has about two or three songs. The MHS band is performing three songs. The names of them are River of Life, Foundry, and El Capitan. There was also a finale with all the bands playing the school song.

MHS band director, Kyle Unruh, was asked about the mass band concert, “The bands have been hard at work to prepare a great concert in a brief amount of time since coming back from winter break, and everyone is sounding poised for a nice performance.”
