New Year, Same Rivalry

New Year, New Me. Well at least that is what everyone has been saying the past few days. With everyone making their New Year’s resolutions, there is one thing that all Bullpup fans want to stay the same. The constant battle between our rivalry Buhler High School. On Tuesday, January 3rd, McPherson High School’s men’s and women’s basketball teams packed up to travel the hated long twenty mile drive to Buhler.

The McPherson, Buhler rivalry has been going on since before any of us current high schoolers were even in middle school. Tueday, Mcpherson added to the rivalry record with wins from both varsity men’s and women’s games, the current record is 62-13-1 according to catchitkansas.com.

The women’s basketball team racked up the points to win 53-35. The Lady Pups were able to roll through this important win with the absence of All-State player, Taylor Robertson. The junior top scorer sat out due to broken finger.

Although the women’s team was able to breeze past this year’s Buhler team, the men’s team faced more of a challenge. After a long fight to get a lead, the Bullpups let their guard down to let their lead come to just a few points. They finished the game with a score of 68-65.

This time and several other times, McPherson basketball pulled through to get varsity wins and will be ready to face the rivalry once again this season.
