Off Season

Taylor Verow and Matie Anderson

While in between seasons, many people workout or practice to stay in shape or prepare for the upcoming season. Some students run, others do a multitude of exercises. However you choose to spend your off season is up to you, as long as you stay fit for the next season.

Some MHS students do many things to stay active during this break. A few winter sports you can look forward to are basketball, soccer, cheerleading, and many more. For example, sophomore Caitlin Faulk goes running in between tennis and soccer. Junior, Donavon Bailey works out more and goes to open mat wrestling.

Many of them had other things to say about the off season. Some students continue or start formal practice with the team. Hannah Moore does more SPS in her free-time so she is ready for basketball cheerleading. Avery Mayfield practices more so she can stay fit and prepare for the upcoming season of basketball.

Many MHS sports have corresponding camps and other extra curricular activities to improve skills.  Ally Soukup said “We have a lot of practices and we went to camp.” High Steppers is similar to cheerleading due to performing during both football and basketball season. Cheerleaders also have a lot to do during the off season, such as Freshmen Kaytlynn Kuder said “We work on a lot on our competition routine and we have to learn dances and other cheers for the new season.”

Many students who have a break in between sports thrive to stay in shape and improve their skills for the upcoming season.
