The New Bell Schedule is Positive

At the last school board meeting, January 15th, Mr. Plackemeier proposed a new bell schedule for next year and the board approved it. The schedule proposes a 7:50 start time and a 2:45 release. The new bell schedule was designed to help with school activities, and getting out early appeals to people more than our current bell schedule.

Some students like the idea of school getting out early. so they can get done with after school practices earlier. “I think it would be really nice, because people in activities get stuff done rather than going to practice, going home, eating dinner and going to bed,” said junior, Sarah Pham. Most students have to go through the trouble of having after school practices. To follow that they they go home and have little time to do other things. For example, homework. Thanks to the little time between sleeping and getting out of practice, students either don’t do their homework, or they stay up all night doing it. If they choose the latter, then the next day they are exhausted, and have a harder time paying attention in class.

“I feel that the new schedule will help a lot and it will be easier to go and get my little sister from her school. Also it would be easier to get ready for Hi-Steppers”  said junior, Amanda Jones. This is an example of why parts of the schedule will appeal to some. Students won’t miss as much class for school events due to the new schedule. Now students will be able to adjust better to arrangement.
Some students don’t care all that much about the change, simply because it doesn’t affect them. Jordan Moll, a junior, said that he didn’t really mind the bell schedule change, because he wasn’t in any sports, so it didn’t affect him very much. The bell schedule seems to be more influential in sports and before and after school practices. Talin Goebel said “I like them [the class times], I agree to them. I like the idea that it will be easier to get to practice and get homework done.”
