The McPherson High School Bowling Team was released on Monday the 25th to play in the Grizzly Bowl that was held at El Dorado. The girls won against Circle’s team, but the boys lost to them by 6 points.

“We missed a lot of spares and some didn’t bowl very well but as a team we were bringing each other up,” said Bailey Holton, a senior bowler. “We have been working on letting bad shots go and thinking of the next shot ahead of you. I’ve really seen an improvement in attitudes and letting the bad shots go,” she finished.

“It was a challenging day for the team. The pins just didn’t seem to fall down for us as they did at the previous meet,” said Herb Halinski, the coach. “The lanes were challenging and they either bowled good or bad, there was really no in-between.”

Holton also said, “Overall I think I did normal for myself. It wasn’t my best performance but it wasn’t my worst.”

The team’s next competitions will be on January 29th and 30th, in the Wichita bowling alley, North Rock Lanes. In Wichita, they’ll be competing with 30 or more teams, and will bowl three regular games along with 15 or more “baker games.” “Baker games” are when five teammates switch out bowling after one frame, allowing each person to bowl two frames.

“I always enjoy bowling tournaments. This tournament, the lane conditions were hard to adjust to,” said Holten.
