  1. You have at least one story about going to Walmart after dark, just because there’s nothing else to do.
  2. You grew up on days spent at the McPherson Water Park and sunburned shoulders.
  3. You have your days at work rearranged so you can watch/participate in the May Day Parade
  4. When you hear word about snow days, your mind remembers the hours spent on the “Wall Park Mountain” flying down on sleds and garbage can lids.
  5. Bragging about your town’s cool coffee shop because after ten years they finally got one decent one.
  6. Your neighbor was your best friend, and you spent every moment together, slaying monsters and playing lava.
  7. You learn to have a tolerance to tornado alarms and take them more as a precaution than a warning.
  8. A trip to Wichita becomes a highlight of your week.
  9. You have a “ghetto” part of town and a “snobby rich” part of town.
  10. When you have just a handful of places to work and it’s usually between restaurants and health care.
  11. At least one of your senior pictures involves a farm and/or a haystack.
  12. You go to basketball games on Friday night because that’s all there is to do.
  13. You travel outside of Kansas and wonder where all the fields of wheat are.
  14. You head over to Wall Park early on the Fourth of July to make sure you get the ideal spot for watching fireworks.
