    Friday, January 9, is the night of the Wall of Fame induction for the McPherson High School, starting at 7 pm. There will be six additions to the Wall of Fame at the high school, including Amy Suernam, Megan Pedersen, Drew Pyle, Kento Aizawa, Doug Gayer, Breckon Kaufman. These names will be added on the 9th of January during the varsity basketball games. The Wall of Fame not only includes athletes, but coaches as well. Doug Gayer was added to the Wall of Fame not only at the MHS, but at the McPherson College Hall of Fame in 2004. He has also been coach of the year several times.

    In order to be put onto the Wall of Fame a student or coach has to reach certain requirements. An individual can also be inducted as an honorary inductee, which also requires certain requirements.  For a coach to be inducted they have to be a coach  at McPherson High School for at least five years, and been retired from coaching at the varsity level for at least five years, as well as coached a McPherson High School team to a KSHSAA state championship.

    For an honorary induction a student shall be an individual athlete or participant whose accomplishments are comparable to those who have qualified in the same sport/activity. Athlete was not a state champion, but rated all-class all-state for football or basketball by one of the two official publications for one season, or named all-state for respective class for two years during their high school career. Example of all-state for tennis, golf, bowling, swimming, wrestling, track & field: Finishing in the top five of the KSHSAA state tennis tournament. Individuals shall not be eligible for honorary induction as students until ten years after graduation from McPherson High School.

    Any individual patron of the McPherson community who has contributed voluntarily and selflessly for the betterment, enrichment and overall improvement of McPherson High School and its athletic/extra-curricular programs. The individual must also have 80% vote of the Wall of Fame committee.
