A staple in the fast-food industry is chicken nuggets with over 25 billion chicken nuggets getting sold around the world annually. Me and Libby White will try nuggets from four different places around McPherson; Arbys, Mcdonalds, Wendys, and Burger King.
We started with Mcnuggets from Mcdonalds, costing an astonishing $4.23 for just four nuggets, although they gave us five. They are 190 calories and 10 grams of protein for four according to the Mcdonalds website. When tasting them we noted that they tasted mildly bland and processed, as well as the breading falling off of the interior getting a 5/10.
We followed up by tasting Wendy’s nuggets, which were surprisingly only $2.39 for four. Wendy’s nuggets contain 180 calories for four and 10g of protein according to the Wendys website following suit with Mcdonalds. After tasting, we thought they tasted far less processed than Mcdonalds, but lost points because there was a string in my nugget getting a 6/10. It also tasted more like chicken, and the worker was very hospitable.
Next up is Burger King, which cost $4.35 for four nuggets and are also 180 calories and 10 grams of protein according to the Burger King website. It is important to note that the worker seemed very irritable and only gave us three nuggets. Burger King had very soggy and bland nuggets and was overall very un-enjoyable getting a 2/10 .
Last but not least is Arby’s. We tried Arby’s brand new steak nuggets which costed a whopping $5.66 for five nuggets. When we first got it we had to roll the windows down cause they stunk so bad. However unlike its competitors had 340 calories and 17 grams of protein According to the Arbys website. We opened the container to see the bottom was full of a mixture of water and oil. We tasted it and it had a similar texture to brisket and tasted kind of burnt receiving an overall rating of 1/10.
All and all being able to afford any of these is a blessing, but some of these did taste comparably better than others, with Wendy’s winning with the best nuggets in McPherson.
