On Thursday September 28, the girls tennis team took first place at the JV league in Windfield while being led by coach Tyler Brown and assistant coach Ricardo Sanchez.

With 19 girls on the tennis team this year, things have changed a lot since last year when there were only 14 girls on the team. Avery Unruh, 14, is a freshman this year. “The coaches have changed,” says Unruh.

From middle school to high school, much has changed. Unruh, who has been playing tennis for nearly a decade, says that she believes she has improved since last year and believes she will get better and better each year.

The Varsity girls will have league on October 10. With hopeful coaches, they play at Windfield and hope to take first, just like JV league.

The two tennis coaches, Coach Brown and Coach Sanchez, say that they believe they’ll win the varsity league with how good of a team they have this year. Brown, the head coach, says that he’s excited to see how far they’ll go this season. “The girls on this team are great. They’ve improved so much this season,” says Brown.

Both coaches are proud of how well their players have played this year. They’ve played well this season. With the season coming to an end, new freshmen will come and seniors will go.
