The annual Madathon took place Friday, May 8, at Linnea Park in McPherson. Students from around McPherson County came together to compete in fun games and activities during one of the most popular events of All Schools Day.
Madathon is known as a “crazy kid Olympics” where teams compete in messy and exciting events. Some of the activities included obstacle courses, water balloon games, Kool-Aid spitting, and games involving eggs. Both fifth graders and eighth graders participated throughout the afternoon.
This year, the LadyBugs from McPherson Middle School were recognized as the 8th Grade Madathon Sportsmanship Winners. The team was congratulated for showing positive attitudes and good sportsmanship during the event.
The event started with the Baby Crawl at 12:30 p.m. before the fifth-grade Madathon began at 1 p.m. The eighth-grade competition followed later in the afternoon. Families, friends, and community members gathered around Linnea Park to watch the games and cheer on the teams.
Madathon has become an important tradition during All Schools Day in McPherson. The event gives students a chance to have fun, work together, and show school spirit while being part of a long-running community celebration.
