There was a lot of things that happened in 2025. First off Donald Trump returned to office in the US. There were 32 people who died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in 2025. This marking the highest number of deaths in over two decades, with December 2025 being the deadliest month. Humanitarian groups estimated around 100 migrant deaths along the U.S.\Mexico border by late October 2025. Air and naval strikes in Yemen, which increased under the administration, resulted in over 100 reported deaths.
In pop culture news, the godfather of heavy metal passed away. Ozzy Osbourne was born on December 3, 1948 and passed away on July 22, 2025 due to a heart attack.
The year 2025 was a very stressful year not just at McPherson High School, but also for other schools, other towns and especially other people like Wichita resident, Jody Christopher (JC).
“It was really hard. I lost my mom to cancer. It was really hard for me because she was the only thing I had left because about 4 or so years ago I lost my oldest daughter, Hope, and my younger daughter one year before her. My mom was the only thing I had left now I don’t really know what I’m living for,” said JC.
Last year had it’s ups and downs for everyone, but like JC we all learn to find purpose.
“I really do need to stay alive for my people. Thank you for reminding me I do need to stay for the people that love me because I love them. I also need them to know that I’m here for them and I already know that they have proved that,” said JC.
2025 was not a good year for some people but for others it was different. You never know what someone is going through if you don’t know them or you don’t ask. This year, JC’s story can teach us to reach out and make the best of the hand your dealt.
