With Christmas right around the corner, festive treats are popping up all over McPherson. I was very eager to try some of these new treats, so I chose one from three different local hotspots. These spots included Scooters, Starbucks, and Sonic.
Each treat had its own type of holiday twist. Some delivered magic to the season, while others did not. I will be giving my honest opinion on each of these Christmas treats.
My first Stop was Scooters, where I tried the Candy Cane Forest Cinnamon Roll. Overall, it is a very picture-perfect looking treat. The cinnamon roll is topped with white icing and crushed peppermints. The cinnamon roll itself was warm and soft, but the peppermint flavor didn’t blend well with it. Personally, I’m not a big fan of peppermint, so no surprise there. Overall, I rate this treat a 7/10.
Next, I headed to Starbucks for their classic Snowman Cookie. This one definitely did not disappoint. The cookie was thick, perfectly sweet, and very well decorated. The frosting details almost made it too cute to eat. The flavor was simple but done really well. This is the perfect holiday sugar cookie. Of the three treats, this one easily earned a 10/10.
Finally, I stopped by Sonic to try the Peppermint Brownie Bark Shake. While the idea of this one sounded really exciting, it definitely wasn’t that great. It was almost too much peppermint for me. Once again, if you’re big on peppermint, you may love this. The brownie flavor didn’t mix well with this one. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t something I would get again. I rate this one a 4/10.
Overall, McPherson has plenty to offer this holiday season, some good, some not so much. I hope this inspires you to get out and try something new this year!
