The crowd was roaring, with the anticipation of us winning or not. The McPherson high school homecoming football game was filled with different emotions throughout the night. Some people laughed, some people screamed, but most people cheered.
Every player has a specific position and responsibility that is essential to the game. Chase Wagner number 20, a corner back player, comments on why the Bull pups may have given up the Augusta game.
“No, they did not have the spirit or trust in each other to play proper defense. Heads were down most of the time from too many bad plays.” said Wagner.
When Augusta started winning you could see the anger in their faces but also the look of defeat they knew it was over they knew they lost their winning streak against Augusta.
“Honestly I felt pretty awful Augusta was supposed to not be as good as us mainly because we have not lost against them in many many years.” said Wagner.
How are the football boys going to come back from this loss against Augusta? It was a really hard game to watch and they just have to hope they do better in the next game they have against them.
“I went out with some of the guys after the game and had a good evening. Though it was a tough loss we still celebrated together as a team” said Wagner.
The last time Augusta won against the McPherson high school football team was in 2013.Which that was their first win against them in a decade. You can probably tell that this loss was very hard for our team. I’m sure the next time we play them their winning streak will be over for good.
Every football team needs their managers, the two football managers are Heaven Nigh and Lilly Neiman. They show up to every football game and practices they have unless they can´t for sickness or a family emergency Nieman had some input on this game against Augusta.
Knowing that the boys have lost this game, but also knowing that they have worked their hardest this year because you are the manager and have seen their hard work first hand; despite the loss how do you feel they played this game?
¨When I was watching the game I could tell something was off with the boys and its really sad that we lost but its okay they just need time to practice before there next game.¨ said Neiman
When we started losing, what were you thinking and how do you think all the boys were feeling and how can McPherson move past this and get through the hard games we will have.
¨When I looked up at the score board i was thinking to myself and was like this is not like are boys and yes Augusta they are a good team we all just thought that this was going to be an easy game to win and it was harder than we all thought.¨ said Neiman
When everyone started to leave you could see the disappointed look on their faces.Everyone was with their friends and family so it kinda is a happy ending after all.
