Every single month out of the year is an awareness month. This upcoming November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Here is everything you need to know about it.

Awareness months are something that is dedicated to raising awareness about certain important topics. Ranging anywhere from health conditions to social issues.

Diabetes is a long lasting health condition. That regulates how your body turns food into denergy. With that being said, According to the CDC 37.3 million Americans suffer from diabetes.

As you may or may not know there are two types of diabetes According to UVA Health. Type 1, where the pancreas does not make insulin, because the body’s immune system attacks the islet cells which is a group of cells in the pancreas that make the insulin.

Type 2, diabetes is when your pancreas produces much less insulin than it used to do. Then your body becomes resistant to insulin.

Insulin is a hormone that is needed to turn food into energy. Also helps control your blood sugar levels. Insulin moves glucose from your blood into cells all over your body. It’s important because insulin opens your cell doors so glucose can leave the bloodstream and move cells that make energy. Said Cleveland Clinic

Sadly, there isn’t a cure for type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Although you can take medicine for them. They are also working to try and find a cure for both diabetes. If you’d like to donate to this cause click on the link provided.  https://diabetes.org/
