Will this year’s homecoming be different from the last? On Tuesday, October 2nd the candidates for homecoming were announced in a assembly, and a email was sent out to the students to vote for the King and Queen of their choosing.  This year’s candidates for King include: Noah Alvia, Zach Brewer, Gabe Hoover, and Dawson VanGoethem. The candidates for the “Hoco” Queen include: Ashley Achilles, Alaina Diggs, Kari Ellet, and Kallie Jost.

Friday, October 5th there was a pep rally in the Axillary Gym at 2:01 and Band, High Steppers, and Cheerleaders performed as well as a dance by the senior football players that got many laughs.  Games were played such as the dance off, potato sack race, and blindfolded musical chairs. Many students and teachers got involved in all these games and a lot of people had a good laugh. After this there was an early dismissal at 2:50 and everyone got to leave early from school.

Later that Friday at 7:00pm there was a MHS football game at the College where they announced the winners for Hoco King and Queen.  Ashley Achilles won Homecoming Queen and Dawson VanGoethem won Homecoming King. Speaking to Alaina Diggs (a candidate), she said: “I was honored to be selected by my classmates!  It was a great experience and I had so much fun! Dawson and Ashley are both very deserving, and I am so happy they were crowned!” The theme for this game was neon, the student section was decked out in all bright colors and everyone was very supportive of the MHS Bullpups.  Concessions were ran by the MHS booster club and face painting was available near the entrance. The Game went very well over all and the Bullpups won with a score of 63 to 6.

Instead of in the month of October, the Homecoming dance will be held on November 3rd.  If you’re looking for some fun with your peers, come to the AC and enjoy yourself.
