Last week, McPherson High School students were released at 2:11 p.m. on Thursday the 19th and Friday the 20th, for the Boys’ Basketball Tournament.

“I really like getting out of school early,” said junior, Megan Cutting, “It gives me time to get things done before practice!”

This week, MHS students will also be released from class at 2:11 for the Girls’ Basketball Tournament on Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th.

“It’s a little inconvenient,” said History and Government teacher, Bryan Little, “But it’s an inconvenience I’ve gotten used to over the years. There will always be something that tweaks the schedule, it just as well be this.”

The school’s choir sang the national anthem for students and players last Friday, and will be doing the same for this Friday’s game.

“I’m excited for the school and the team, I hope we win,” said sophomore, Damon Toler, “I don’t really go to the games, but I did sing the national anthem for the last game,” he said.

Most MHS students look forward to the basketball tournaments each year, and these games are no exception.

“I am very excited to go to the games!” said Cutting, “I love being part of the student section and making memories with all of my friends.”

The excitement is also passed onto the teachers.

“I haven’t gone to many of the tournament games in the past,” said Little, “But I like watching the basketball teams when my kids have the patience for it.”

No matter how the final tournament goes, the school will be there to cheer on and support their basketball teams.
