Some girls dream of having the best dress, the best hair, and above all, the best date on their prom night. Others might buy their prom ticket the day before and eat some microwave noodles before heading out the door. Any way they decide to celebrate the night, there is a great emphasis put on prom to go perfectly. This is probably the reason why some girls spend hundreds of dollars on everything so the night will go just as they’ve dreamed.

This special night can cost anywhere from $175 to $2100. Most of the money spent is from the cost of the gown. Most dresses range in cost from $100 to $500. But there’s many other factors that go into the perfect night. Buying the tickets, pre-prom dinner, hair and makeup, renting a limo, and photography.

“We’re going to go out to eat, so that will be quite expensive, but I didn’t spend any money of a professional camera, or on a special ride” junior Sheyenne Fernandez said.

Other students, especially seniors are going all out in their final year.

“I didn’t mind the price this year, I just wanted to buy a great dress I feel comfortable in.” senior Hannah Stecklein said.

Here at McPherson, students can purchase their prom tickets for $15 a piece, or $25 a couple. Everything else is up for what students are willing to spend.

“No matter how much I spend I know that the night will be fun either way,” Stecklein said.
