Voting

Chloe Jones

A lot of people are thinking about voting right around now because they have to register. You can do this in person or online. In order to vote, you have to be a U.S. citizen and have turned 18 (by the 7th of November, 2016) before the election. You are not required by law to vote if you are 18.

If it is your first time registering, you need to have proof of United States Citizenship, such as your birth certificate, Passport, or anything on the list in the link provided. This can be provided by paper copy or electronically, or you can show the document to an election officer or official registrar. “For a list of acceptable documents, visit http://www.gotvoterid.com. If you do not have any of the documents, you may appeal to the state election board.”

In order to qualify to vote, you registration is due 21 days before the election, which is November 8. After you have filled out the form, you can print it and send it to your local courthouse (117 N. Maple, McPherson, KS). The school does not have voter registration forms.
