The marching band met at 5:30 AM on December 30th to gather onto two village tour buses headed for San Antonio, Texas, for the Alamo Bowl. This was the marching band’s first year attending the Alamo Bowl and they had plenty of sights to see.

After a long thirteen hour drive, the band unpacked and settled into their hotel rooms for the night at Holiday inn. They were up bright and early at 7:00 AM for breakfast the next morning provided by the band’s surplus of granola bars, pop-tarts, muffins, and cereals. This was quickly followed by a short trip to SAHS (San Antonio High School) for the competition performance of this year’s half time show, The Sound of Simon, and a parade block march.

Later that day, the marching band took a trip to Natural Bridge Caverns. There they ate lunch and went through an optional ropes course/zip-line. After lunch they were lead on a tour through the caverns, walking up and down steep, wet paths. That night, the band attended the awards banquet and dance that followed the competition. The band received awards for their music during the show and placed second in the overall marching competition. Around 11:00 PM, the band went back to the hotel to watch fireworks near the Tower of the Americas.

The next morning all of the bands were on the field to rehearse for the show on Saturday. Then, they had food at the mall and either chose to stay at the hotel for a few hours, or go to San Antonio Zoo. After this, the band went down to the Alamo Market and San Antonio River walk to explore. The band had an Italian dinner at Luciano’s near the river walk.

The last morning of the trip, the band hauled their stuff back onto the buses and left for another mass band rehearsal at the Alamo dome. The band had lunch and returned to the Alamo dome later that night before the game. After performing at half-time, the band had dinner at the stadium and headed back home when the game concluded.
