Living in a small town has more benefits than living in a big city. You get to be involved in a community, experience minimal traffic, and lower crime rates.
One of the reasons living in a small town is superior is because you get to experience and be a part of a community. When you live in a big city you lack the small community experience.
Another benefit of small-town life is having little to no traffic. According to Fox News, New Yorkers can spend the equivalent of ten days in traffic per year. Drivers can be traveling at a speed of 12 miles per hour during peak travel times.
Traffic is not a problem in small towns since they do not have the same amount of people commuting. In small towns, there are lower crime rates than in big cities. According to Madison News, small towns have a 48% lower crime rate than big cities. All of these reasons contribute to why I believe raising a family in a small town exceeds urban living.
One frustrating part of living in a small town can be the feeling that you do not have anything to do. Those feelings are valid, however, in most small towns you can drive just an hour and have a plethora of things to do.
