In McPherson, Kansas All Schools Day is a tradition that has been here for 111 years, on the second Friday of May we have a tradition called the annual All Schools Day celebration—showing the amazing spirit of the community and education in McPherson.
Since the beginning, All Schools Day has transformed from simply recognizing school achievements into a week-long festival that builds the community tighter each year. It’s the time when the accomplishments of students are applauded, and the bond of the community grows stronger.
The big parade, a mixture of colors and sounds, is the highlight of the parade, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of the McPherson youth. The children’s happiness fills the air, blending with all the marching bands feeling the thumping in your chest, to dance troupes moving in sync, and EVEN classic cars that add nostalgia.
May Fete is when students perform dances and the crowning of the May Queen and King. The performances are always so heartfelt, and it’s great to see the kids take center stage in the Roundhouse.
When the night falls, the fireworks begin, and it’s like the sky is celebrating, Each burst of color lights up the face in the crowd. It’s the perfect way to end the festivities on a high note.

At last, the annual All Schools Day Parade on Friday, May 10th begins at approximately 10:30 am and ends off the night with fireworks at Lakeside Park once the streetlights turn on.
