The anticipation for the upcoming tournament is palpable as the volleyball season progresses. The McPherson volleyball team, under the excellent coaching of Christy Doile, is getting ready for what is to be an exciting game. McPherson is up for a great challenge against the #1 school in 4A West Clearwater with a record of 14-1. To prepare, Doile studies the competitions and identifies their strengths and weaknesses.
Doile’s preparation for the tournament is a testament to her dedication. She’s not only focusing on physical training but also emphasizing mental conditioning. “The girls have been working hard on their connections, setter to hitter, to finish the rally. We tend to pass to the target well and we need to execute or finish the play”, Doile stated. The tournament isn’t just about winning for Coach Doile; it’s about teamwork and continuous growth.
Under Coach Doile’s guidance, the team has worked on skills like ball kills, and blocking and has been reviewing form/technique. They also have been working on staying focused under pressure and improving communication on the court. Doile stated, “Communication needs to be constant and loud. As you’re playing the game, you should be speaking your thoughts to your teammates.” These skills are crucial in their tournament performance and build up strength for future challenges.
Overall bullpups have been putting in the work on and off the court in hopes of winning their game on October 7. The preparation, the focus on post-match recovery, and Coach Doile’s unwavering guidance have helped the team grow. Stay tuned for more!
