The Barbie movie was released in July of 2023. Since then the movie has broken records, became a hot topic in pop culture, and empowered women nationwide. The movie was directed by Greta Gerwig and starred actors Ryan Gossling and Margot Robbie. 

The Barbie movie is currently the highest-grossing film ever directed by women and Warner Brothers’ highest-grossing film. The movie brought in the biggest crowds that theatres had seen post-COVID-19. The movie is currently ranked #14 on the all-time movie-grossing list. 

The movie features a soundtrack that was written just for this movie. It features popular and talented artists including; Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Khalid, and others. Before the release of the Barbie movie, Mattel and the movie creators did advertisements and promotions for the movie. They collaborated with many popular brands, and soon the color pink filled the isles of stores. 

But the real purpose of the Barbie movie was to spread a positive message to Women and others. The movie promoted the importance of girlhood and the relationships that women share together. Especially the bond of a mother and daughter. Others feel that the movie dissed and put down the Kens or Men, and overdramatized aspects of being a Woman. I think that most people can agree though, the overall message of the movie is uplifting.
