Instagram

Instagram as most people know about, is one of generation Z’s most used apps. 1.22 billion people use it each month and it is constantly growing in users. As of now, there are 500 million active users. Instagram is one of my favorite social media platforms at the moment. One of my favorite things to do is get all dressed up and go take cute pictures. I edit them and post them and then all of my followers can see. “Instagram is one of the most widespread social networks with teens, with some teens claiming they spend hours editing photos before they post them.” (https://mediasmart.uk.com/social-media/why-do-teens-love-instagram/)  With taking the perfect pictures and editing them, I can be at it for a good few hours. They have recently updated it, and now there is a page on Instagram where you can scroll through videos just like TikTok. There is also a feature like Snapchat where you can watch people’s stories. You can repost other people’s posts on your story, if you click on the picture it will take you straight to their post and you can see what it’s about. You can use the stories to create “highlights” on your profile. Highlights are pictures that are saved onto your profile so people can look at them, but they aren’t on your actual feed.  I like posting highlights because you can group them into certain groups and post pictures that go with them. I have a friend’s highlight and I post cute pictures of my friends and I that I don’t want to post on my actual feed. On Instagram you can basically do all that you can on other apps. You can follow people, message people, watch videos, live stream, post to your story, and more. You can keep up with other people that you don’t know personally like celebrities and influencers. Some schools have an Instagram page so you can keep up with what they are doing too. I think that everyone should have Instagram, no matter their age. Even if you don’t post it’s still fun to see what people are doing and keep up with everything.
