McPherson always seems to have something going on, especially for the little kids and even teens. You don’t have to go to Salina or Wichita for something there is plenty in Mac, especially downtown. There are several events that involving McPherson’s Main Street. Most of these events are events that happen every year. While these events are to promote Downtown McPherson, they are family friendly and fun. Cookies with Santa, Trick or Treat Down Main Street, Kids Summer Movies and the Snowball Drop are several events that include the young ones.
Sophomore Emily Smith says “Even as a freshman, last year I went to the Snowball drop just to watch all the little kids, because I used to be one of those kids.”
With a few of these events revolving around holidays, downtown McPherson also has a summer movie program promoting downtown. Freshman Jensen Mierkiewicz says “I love summer and watching movies, so the free summer movies is a perfect way for me to watch and movie and still be out and about.” All the movies are at the B & B Theaters on 318 N Main where several kids movies are shown at 10 am, Tuesdays through Thursdays, tickets are only $3. These movies are sponsored by multiple Main Street businesses. Mierkiewicz also says “I always make sure I go to at least one of the summer movies.” More information on times for movies is on visitmcpherson.com.
