Possibly the most time consuming and costly preparations to be made are the themes. From coming up with the ideas, to voting, and to construction, it takes nearly the entire school year just to prepare for a single night. The whole process is very exciting, in particular for the seniors, but once the theme is decided, students really begin to get hyped up.
At McPherson High School, the theme has been decided, and students are beyond ready. With options between a Zen Garden, a Masquerade Ball, or The Great Gatsby, students were sent an email to pick their preference. The Great Gatsby won out. Ladies are seeking out their flapper dresses and headbands, while the gentlemen are scoping out the competition for fancy suits and boater hats. Senior Shantelle Mogollon commented, “I went to prom last year, but I feel like this year’s theme is way better. I love Gatsby and the 20’s in general so much!”
Taking from the book of the same name, The Great Gatsby theme has been the desire of many individuals for a multitude of years.
“Gatsby means big, extravagant decorations, simple dresses, and jazz music,” said senior, Kiley Delaney. “So many other schools have done it and now we are too, finally!” Prom is April 8, 2017. Join us, old sport!
