The Dawg Pound is Running Smoothly
October 7, 2016
The Dawg Pound, McPherson High School’s student store, has been up and running for nearly a month now. With that being said, the staff members have had a little time to adjust since its opening, and a few changes are being made to make the store run just a little smoother.
“I think it helps the students that are running it,” said Thomas Diggs, a volunteer in the Dawg Pound, “And it shows them good work ethic and business skills.”
The Dawg Pound is still open from 1st to 4th hour during school days, and free popcorn is still offered with any purchases made on Fridays.
“I’ve been to the store a good amount since it started,” said Kyler Hiem, a junior at MHS, “It’s cool, but I just wish my classes actually allowed snacks and drinks in class.”
According to promotional posters, the Dawg Pound will soon be offering bullpup apparel for sale along with their current snacks and beverages. As always, they are willing to accommodate the students requests if possible.
“It gives us something new to look forward to and makes them happy from the products we are selling,” said Diggs about the store’s success.
“I love that we have a school store now,” said Caitlyn Peak, “The coffee shop was nice, but it didn’t do anything for when I was a little hungry.”
The opinions are varied, but many students have picked out their favorite parts already.
“The coffee really helps when I’m tired,” said Heim. “It’s too bad they don’t have energy drinks- even though I can see why they don’t.”
“My favorite thing is obviously the free popcorn- who doesn’t love that?” asked Peak. “I also think it’s cool that they’re getting shirts and stuff.”
The Dawg Pound is doing well, and as more students voice their preferences it will only improve. Why not pop in a pick up your favorite snack or drink?
