Pups after a win

Bailey Yarborough, J1 Student

McPherson Varsity football team played Winfield Friday, September 16 at Winfield.  A very enthusiastic football sideline cheered on the winning Pups to a 46-6 win.

Both teams went into this match 0-2. Winfield has had a history of losses against Mac, adding this one to the collection. The game started with an adrenaline rush as #3, Jayse Alexander, caught an interception and ran it back to about the one yard line. This was a huge boost to the Pups as the offense finished the drive with a rushing touchdown.

Towards the end of the first quarter, quarterback Casen Hoover connected to wide receiver, Jeffrey Reed for yet another touchdown. After the first half of this football game, Pups were up 28-0.

The last two quarters ended in the junior varsity coming out to play Winfield’s varsity. They held the Vikes to a scoreless second half and they finish the game with a win and a whole lot of pizza.

After game comment from quarterback Casen Hoover, “It was a good game for us to get back into the winning mode after our first two losses against Buhler and Maize south. But we still have a lot of work to do for upcoming weeks.”
