Christy Doile is the volleyball head coach at MHS. She has coached for twenty-five years. Qualities that Doile looks for in a player are positivity, grit, no giving up, being vocal, and someone who uses their core values. Doile was inspired to start coaching by her high school and college coaches.
Doile says “We celebrate with food, snacks, and lots of treats in our film session. We also put on a fishing derby, varsity cooks a giant breakfast for junior varsity and freshman team players and serves them. Some fun activities we do are pumpkin painting contests as well as team dinners.”
After a tough game or a loss, McPherson likes to reflect on things they did well and things they can improve on. Doile says she likes her players to be very intentional with practice planning to fix their weaknesses, help the team stay positive, and work harder.
This past Tuesday, Oct. 1, both the varsity and junior varsity defeated Clearwater. This was a big moment for them. It was a close game with the score of the first set being 25-16, Mcpherson. The second and final set ended the game with Mcpherson beating Clearwater 25-20.

Cooper handles pressure by expecting a positive outcome. She says, “Whenever I feel nervous or stressed, I envision myself moving past the pressure and letting it help me grow as a player and a teammate.”

Whitfield says “I want to get my seniors to state again because every single one of them definitely deserves it.”
Ava Romero, a junior at MHS, has played volleyball for seven years. Ava’s favorite quote is “But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.” – Rocky Balboa.
Addison Chapman, a senior at MHS, has played volleyball since she was eight years old. She plays right side, and she is a setter. Chapman says “You want to be loud and confident, never doubt yourself, and have confidence in yourself.”
An upcoming event that Mcpherson Volleyball is hosting is Senior Night, in the Roundhouse. Senior Night is where all seniors are walked down the court by their parents/guardians. They are announced and recognized for all the activities and accomplishments they have. This will take place on October 17, come stop by and see!
