This year has been a great season for the girls basketball team. Tues., Feb. 13 all of the McPherson basketball teams played their rivals, Buhler.
Buhler has been one of McPherson’s rivals for a long time now, but this year only one of the games was really close.
The Freshman boys lost 37-39, but everyone else won. The score of the JV boys was 55-42, Varsity boys 63-21, JV girls 57-21, and Varsity girls 56-33.
During the girls varsity game, the first half started off slow but they came out in the second half with lots of energy and confidence which helped them shoot pretty well.
During the Buhler game, Jaela Thompson led the team in scoring 14 points. She picked up several rebounds and strong passes that got her six assists.
“It helped that the team was disruptive on defense,” said Thompson. The girls’ player of the game said the team needs to “continue to bring energy and good team chemistry for the postseason.”
The girls need to win the next four games in order to remain the second seed so they can host sub-state.
