As an athlete, I believe there are many positive aspects of young kids playing sports. It teaches them very important life lessons such as teamwork. However, there is so much more, let’s talk about it.
Most athletes wish they would’ve started their sport earlier so they would have better skills and techniques. Most of the time, athletes who have started their sports earlier have higher intelligence in their game.
As I said before sports teach kids how to use teamwork. Which is a great tool in all areas of life. For example, if you have a group project in school or have a job where you have to work with people.
It also teaches kids time management attempting to balance practice with any other commitments they have like school, work, and spending time with friends and family.
Another reason sports for youth is beneficial is that it teaches them leadership skills. Sports do this by giving kids an opportunity to speak up and help teammates when need be. I think these leadership skills help people be inspiring and motivating.
According to Scripps Health, child obesity is at an all-time high. This puts kids at a higher risk for other serious health conditions. Sports makes kids active which benefits their cardiovascular health, burns calories, and improves strength and mobility. Also, playing youth sports supports long-term exercise habits.
Sports also increase good mental health because exercise reduces stress levels as well as reducing anxiety and depression.
These examples are just a few; I think there are many ways youth sports have benefited different athletes. It teaches many important valuable lessons. Most importantly it provides a safe place. With the world we live in being so unstable and confusing, sports provides a home that’s always there for them.
