Record breaking lows

From December 21st to 26th the U.S. experienced a record-breaking cold snap. Even southern parts of the U.S. were shivering that week. Some temperatures reached lower than -40 degrees. This happened because of the polar vortex fell south onto the U.S. and Canada. The polar vortex circles the artic but occasionally will slip south. This happened before in February 2021 where temperatures again were well below -40 in some places of the U.S.  This air brought winds reaching up to 40-50mph. The weather starts to warm up the next few weeks, and I am very grateful.
