9/11 Twenty-One Years Later

It’s been 21 years since the tragic day America’s World Trade Center, the Twin Towers, were attacked by terrorists shaking America with fear and grief.

On the morning of September 11th, 2001 in New York City at around 8:45 am the North Tower of The World Trade Center was crashed into by an airplane. It was at first thought that this was an accident and didn’t mean to happen until the South Tower was crashed into by another airplane at around 9:03 am, just 18 minutes after the first crash, then we finally then know that we were under attack.

Our President at the time, George W. Bush, made a televised emergency broadcast speech about what was happening in America, Bush said quote, “Terrorists can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they can not dent the steel of American resolve.”

At around 9:45 am in Washington, DC the Pentagon was hit by a 3rd hijacked airplane, killing 125 military personnel/civilians along with all 64 people on board the plane. All while back in New York, 15 minutes after the Pentagon was attacked, the South Tower collapsed completely trapping and killing thousands of civilians, police, firefighters, and workers not only in the building but outside of it also. At 10:10 am a 4th hijacked plane that left from New Jersey had crash landed in a rural field near Shanksville in Pennsylvania, killing all 44 passengers onboard. The passengers on board this 4th flight all knew what was happening in New York from the news on their phones, and started making calls to their family members telling them goodbye knowing they weren’t going to make it. The passengers onboard took it among themselves to fight the hijackers and stop them from reaching their intended target, they overpowered the 4 hijackers on board causing the plane to flip and speed towards the ground at 500 mph, then crash landing in a rural field. Then just 20 minutes after at 10:30 am the North Tower then too collapsed completely, leaving now both the towers in piles of rubble.

The events that happened on 9/11 will never be forgotten and the brave heroes and first responders that risked their lives will always be remembered, along with the thousands of innocent lives that were lost that day.
