The spirit of McPherson High is shining bright as we gear up for homecoming! This year’s candidates are an excellent group; each brings their unique personalities and enthusiasm to the table. Let’s meet the students battling for the crown this year.
The male candidates this year are Krayton Byrd, Teigan Younger, Kameron Buckbee, and Keaton Crane. The ladies are Dulce Martinez, Brodie Kuhn, Jensyn Alexander, and Andi Bushbom.
We had the opportunity to interview all the candidates and got to know them.
Krayton Byrd is a great candidate. He thinks, “It’s pretty cool, it should be fun,” Byrd said, but he is most excited for “walking on the football field and seeing who’s gonna win.”
Another candidate, Kameron Buckbee, is involved in KAY club and golf.
Jensyn Alexander has mixed feelings about being an HOCO candidate. “I’m kind of nervous,” Alexander said, but she’s excited, “just to dress up and walk in front of the school.”
Two of the candidates, Dulce Martinez and Brodie Kuhn, shared their plans after high school. “I plan to go to Hutchison for college and major in nursing and also be a part of the dance team,” Martinez said. Kuhn hopes to attend Missouri Western to play golf and major in Biology.
Keaton Crane may be the most well-rounded candidate. He is involved in football, wrestling, and the MHS marching band.
Teigan Younger is pretty thrilled about being a candidate. “It’s exciting, I’m most excited about being able to walk at the football game,” Younger said.
Some advice from Andi Buschbom for anyone who dreams of being a candidate one day was to “Lead with kindness and show people kindness.”
Having the opportunity to speak with all the candidates was great, and they are all very kind. The Bullpups cannot wait to see who will take the crown at
his year’s homecoming football game. Make sure to catch the game on Friday, October 17, at 7 p.m. at McPherson College Stadium.
