The Golden Bachelorette made its debut this September and had its final rose ceremony this past week. Joan Vassos from Rockville Maryland is the first Golden Bachelorette ever. The season started off with 24 men between their sixties and seventies. Vassos met each guy and made connections and got closer with certain men as the season progressed. The final three men consisted of Chock Chapple, Guy Gansert, and Pascal Ibgui. In the end Vassos picked Chapple because she had fallen in love with him.
Inge Krug who watched the whole season of the Golden Bachelorette said “You don’t have to go through the “golden” years alone. There can be happiness and excitement present with the right partner.” Krug watches all different forms of the Bachelor and Bachelorette but this season of the Golden Bachelorette really stood out to her.
This was the first ever season of the Golden Bachelorette and it proved to be an adventure filled season. Not much drama happened during this season which is different from what you see on the typical Bachelor or Bachelorette. All the men from the season got along well with each other and some even became close friends. Vassos knew early on that Chapple was the right guy for her so it made her decision easier in the end. Vassos took picking the right guy very seriously. She didn’t choose to be on this show just to have fun. She came with the intention of finding true love again after losing her first husband to pancreatic cancer in 2021.
Joan Vassos on Good Morning America said “I finally, like, look forward to the next chapter of my life. I lost that, you know, for quite a while,” Vassos said. “I think just living a little bit of a normal life for a bit of time and then we’ll start making wedding plans.” Both Vassos and Chapple lost their spouses and are ready to find love again with each other.
Chapple and Vassos are now engaged and plan to get married in the future after having a little more time together to get to know each other better. Vassos mentioned that she would be open to spending time in Kansas which is where Chapple is from. They are unsure of what the rest of their lives will look like and how long it will be but they are certain they will spend every second of the rest of their lives together.
