John Krasinski has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2024.

Krasinski was named during an airing of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the actor’s new title was revealed. 

Krasinksi has been a popular name within pop culture, notably starring as Jim Halpert in The Office and Jack Ryan in A Quiet Place. In an interview with People magazine, Krasinski joked how he will now have to do ”more chores,” and how his wife, Emily Blunt, hilariously told him he will have to ”earn it here at home.”

He takes over the honor from Patrick Dempsey, last year’s People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Reflecting on the news, Krasinski told the publication, ”Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I’m being punked.”

Despite Krasinski’s lack of reaction, people have expressed their opinions on his honorable mention as the sexiest man alive. 

Katie Vincent, a fan of The Office, expressed her support for the choice. “I believe Krasinksi deserves the title. He has a great personality, and to me, is attractive. And yes, I was surprised because he wouldn’t have been my first choice.” 

When asked what her first choice would be, she replied Jensen Ackles. 

On social media, it shares a different story. A post from @robpascal on X (formerly Twitter) read: “nothing against john krasinski… he’s kind of cute, but… THE SEXIEST man alive?” 

In a post on @diet_prada’s Instagram, Melanie (@melaniemsterling) offered a more critical stance on why he was chosen: “I always felt that the men who are ‘chosen’ are actually paying for it because they’ve lost momentum”.

Almost every year, People’s Sexiest Man Alive creates a storm on the internet. Whether people agree or disagree, it remains an undeniable honor. Krasinski reminds us that it isn’t all about looks, it’s also about substance, personality, and charisma. 

With this title, Krasinski joins Dempsey, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, and Michael B. Jordan as this decade’s Sexiest Men Alive.
