On Friday, November 15, 2024, former youtuber, and new boxer, Jake Paul, age 27, fought the 1987-1990 heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, age 58, also known as Iron Mike.
The match was originally scheduled on July 20, 2024, but was postponed due to Tysons near death experience.
According to Fox News, Tyson spoke on the matter, “I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions,””Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.”
Tyson believed that although he had lost the fight, he had still won since he had managed to get back in the ring after such a fearful experience.
The fight was advertised to be streamed live on Netflix, but 500,000 people around the world reported that Netflix had crashed, preventing millions from watching.
Junior, at McPherson High School, Addyson Carroll states “I tried to watch on netflix but it didn’t work so I had to watch it on twitter”
Over 60 million people around the world managed to watch this intense fight although Netflix was down.
When it comes to the fight itself, a whopping 72,000 people attended the fight located in Dallas, Texas as the Dallas Cowboys stadium.
After a rough 8 rounds, Paul was rewarded with the victory, while leaving Tyson with only two rounds won.
Carroll claims that the fight was not fair “The age gap in the two made the fight unfair, Jake is in his prime, meanwhile Mike is almost 60 and past his prime”
After Paul defeated Tyson, he bravely challenged MMA fighter Cohnor McGregor. Information on the matter is still being settled.
