The One Chicago franchise is a group of shows, created by Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, and Dick Wolf, that air on Wednesday nights. It consists of “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago PD.” The episodes of each show follow the daily lives of first responders and what they get up to.
On Wednesday, November 20, the three shows will be showing their fall finales, which will be the last episodes shown until they resume in late winter of 2025.
“Chicago Med” will be seeing a familiar face, as Rachel DiPillo, the actress who played psychiatrist resident Sarah Reese, will be returning to the show for the first time in over six years. The episode, titled “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” will focus on one of the show’s biggest plotlines this season: executive hospital director, Sharon Goodwin, and her stalker.
Earlier in the season, Goodwin received an anonymous death threat. The episodes have since been following the steps she’s been taking to discover who it is, and only time will tell if the finale ends up revealing it.
It will also focus on the reunification of the chief of psychiatry, Daniel Charles, and his old resident, Sarah Reese, along with the other doctors treating a car accident victim.
Meanwhile, on “Chicago Fire,” the episode will follow Lieutenant Christopher Hermann and Randy “Mouch” McHolland as they take their exams, for Herrmann to become a chief and Mouch to be a lieutenant. It will also deal with another one of the firefighters, Carver, and how he takes care of a dog after its owner is injured in a fire.
And on “Chicago PD,” one of the police officers, Torres, has a secret that might destroy both his and his team’s careers if it gets out.
Sophomore Mack Marcott, who has been watching the show for nearly a decade, has some predictions for one of the finales. “I think [on Med] they’ll find the stalker, but they’ll try to hurt Sharon before they’re finally caught. And of course they’ll all end on cliffhangers, they always do.”
Marcott also says that she’s excited to see what happens to the characters this week.
Junior Alexandria Stevens and Marcott both agree on the best show in the franchise, “Chicago Med,” and both share the same least favorite, “Fire.”
Stevens was very passionate about sharing her least favorite character on any of the shows, firefighter Kelly Severide. “That bald dang dude is getting on my nerves,” she says.
All three shows can be watched live on NBC on Wednesday, November 20, starting at 7 p.m. central time, and streaming the next day on Peacock.
