Almost everybody has heard of or made slime before. There’s something satisfying about creating, feeling, and exploring all the different textures that a slime can produce. Slime is one of the best sensory toys, aiding with fidgeting, stress relief, fine motor skills, and stimulation. I believe slime is amazing for your brain, combining comfort and relaxation, in a lot of ways other toys cannot create. When you’re older, playing with slime can be nostalgic and remind you of your childhood, which brings a sense of comfort. This is why I will be sharing different types of slime and the most convenient way to make it.
The most basic of all, classic slime.
What you will need:
- 4 ounces (½ cup) white Elmer’s Glue
- ½ cup of water
- ½ teaspoon borax powder
- 1 cup warm water
Here are the steps you will need to create basic slime:
- Put the 4 ounces (½ cup) of glue into a container
- Dissolve the borax into the warm water until water is cloudy
- Slowly add the dissolved borax to the glue
- Mix thoroughly each time before adding more borax, as you don’t want to over activate the slime
If your slime is too sticky, add more borax gradually into the slime. To keep your slime fresh, store your slime in an airtight container.
I interviewed Rebecca Lulloff, a student at McPherson High School who is a slime connoisseur. Lulloff has made slime countless times and has even tried my basic slime recipe.
“This slime recipe was easy and really helped me with my future slime expertise.”
Lulloff, during our interview, mentioned many times that she loves cloud slime.
“I love making cloud slime because I enjoy the texture and the way it stretches. It helps me relieve stress.”
Personally, cloud slime is the best slime to make. It has a unique soft, fluffy, and doughy texture. When you stretch cloud slime, it has a satisfying drizzle effect. Which is why I want to show you the most effective and efficient way to make cloud slime.
Here’s how to make: cloud slime.
What you will need:
- 4 ounces (½ cup) of white Elmer’s Glue
- ½ cup of water
- ½ cup of shaving cream
- 1-2 tablespoons of saline solution
- 1-2 tablespoons of instant snow powder
Here are the steps you will need to make cloud slime:
- Mix the glue and water in a bowl together until smooth
- Add the shaving cream and mix until there are no chunks
- Add the saline solution, a little at a time while stirring; try not to over activate the slime, as it needs to be a bit sticky
- When your slime is done, prepare the instant snow according to the packet directions, which usually requires a bit of water. It should be fluffy and dry to the touch
- Gradually mix the slime and the snow until you achieve a soft, fluffy texture that drizzles
That’s it! Remember to store all of your slimes into airtight containers to avoid the slimes from drying up. Again, slime is one of the best stress relievers in the world at a low cost. If you’ve never tried to make slime, I recommend giving it a try. It is a fun activity to partake in, whether it’s with your family or friends, it’s bound to make you feel happy and satisfied.
