Pearl Harbor 80th anniversary

Today, December 7th 2021 we observe the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On that fateful day 80 years ago, 2,403 Americans lost their lives to Japanese bombers. My grandmother remembers the event saying “I remember we all thought they would come for us next. We went to the store to buy blinds and wood to barricade the windows. It was very scary, we stayed inside of the house for many days, we did not know if we would make it.”. For many Americans they would remember this day for the rest of their lives. To repair the damage done it was almost 2.1 million dollars. There is now a memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii called USS Arizona Memorial. At this memorial there is 1,102 soldiers still underneath water after they sunk with the ship. Today, we honor those who passed by flying the flag at half staff until sunset.
